Proof of Residency & Age
The City requires proof of Coronado residency in order to qualify for resident rates. Please provide a current copy of a valid government-issued picture I.D. and one of the following as proof of residency:
- Utility Bill
- Military Housing Orders (at least 6 months)
- Lease or rental agreement (at least 6 months)
- Property Tax Statements
- Check with Address Imprinted
Proof of age is required for all people under the age of 18. You may provide a birth certificate, passport, medical or government issued identification card with the birth date pre-imprinted on the card. Proof of age is required prior to registering for any programs or classes.
All participants, facility renters and equipment users must sign the Recreation and Golf Services Agreement and Release of Liability waiver annually. Please contact the front desk or review your account to update any account information.
Memberships
All membership passes are non-transferable, non-refundable and non-extendable, and are valid from date of purchase. Memberships may have certain restrictions for use including completion of orientation (Fitness Center) or certification of safety techniques (Boathouse).
Family Memberships
Family passes are good for up to five (5) members of the immediate family, not to exceed two (2) adults. A family member is a spouse, parent, grandparent, or child living in the same household. Aquatics Family Summer Pass: Valid Memorial Day Weekend - Labor Day Weekend; Valid for immediate family-defined as spouse, parent, grandparent, or child living in the same household (maximum of 5 on pass not to exceed 2 adults); Includes access to the Fitness Center for adults, seniors, and youths age 15+. Non-transferable / Non-refundable/ and non-extendable; valid from date of purchase. No memberships are offered for the Spreckels Center.
Youth Guest Policy
To ensure participants’ safety and to provide a positive experience for all Coronado Community Center guests of all ages, we have set the following guidelines: YOUTH 8 years and older can be at the Community Center and pool without adult supervision. We require all youth guests have a completed Agreement and Release of Liability Waiver on file with the Community Center staff. Unaccompanied youth and teens must be able to demonstrate respect for other individuals and for Community Center equipment. YOUTH Under age 8 must always be under the direct contact of their parent or guardian when in the Community Center or pool. If not with a parent, youth under 8 years must be accompanied by a patron 18 years or older. The responsible patron 18 years or older can only supervise 5 children under the age of 8. TEENS 15 years and older may utilize the Fitness Room after completing the Safety Orientation. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in the loss of Community Center privileges. Participants under the age of 18 must have waiver signed by their parent or legal guardian. Spreckels Center Programs and Children are allowed with adult supervision depending on the event.
Accessibility
The Recreation and Golf Services Department is committed to supporting the Americans With Disabilities Act to provide reasonable services and opportunities for those with special challenges and needs. Registration Deadline
Patrons can register for a class, activity, or program up until the Sunday prior to its scheduled start day. Registration for swim lessons is allowed up to the second day of class if space is available. There will be no proration. Spreckels Center registrations vary based upon class. Contact staff for more information.
Minimums/Maximums
All classes have a preset number of minimum and maximum participants. This ensures a safe participant/instructor ratio, as well as enhances the quality of the program for those enrolled. Registration staff cannot make exceptions to the program maximum.
Transfers
Requests for transfers will be granted if received 72 hours prior to the first day of the program. Transfers will not be granted to those who fail to attend a program or fail to request the transfer 72 hours prior to the start of the program.
Pricing
Coronado residents pay a discounted rate for most programs, classes, rentals, facility usages, and activities.
Registration Age Requirements
To register for a program, children must be the minimum age listed on or before the first day of the program.
Waitlists
In the event that a class is full, a patron may be added to the class /camp waiting list for up to two classes/camps per person per session/ week. There is a 24-hour return contact policy for all waitlists. If the patron is contacted via email/phone and does not respond within 24 hours, the space in the class will be made available to the next person on the waiting list. It is the responsibility for the patron to make sure account contact information is accurate. Multiple phone numbers and an email address recommended. If a spot becomes available within 24 hours of the class start, the standard 24-hour rule does not apply; calls will be made in waitlist order and the first respondent to answer/pay will receive the position.

Appropriate Attire Policy
- Fitness Room: Shirt and shoes required
- Community Center and Spreckels Center: Shoes and shirt required
- Aquatics: Aqua shoes are required for all shallow water classes. Non-disposable swim diapers (if applicable) and appropriate swim attire are required. Floaties/noodles, water-wings, and dyes in clothing are not allowed.
Club Room and Boathouse Vessel and Equipment Rental
- Must be 18 years old to rent.
- Ages 6-12 must share a vessel with an adult while renting.
- Ages 13-17 must have an adult on the water with them while renting. o Exception-if ages 13-17 have completed a Youth Independent Paddler course, they may paddle without an adult.
- A waiver must be completed and signed by a parent/guardian for any minor.
- All participants renting City property must wear a lifejacket while renting City equipment.
- A valid credit card must be on file for any group renting City equipment.
- Equipment rentals end 1 hour prior to closing. Equipment is only available during equipment rental hours on a first-come, first-served basis, and may not always be available due to rentals and program classes. Patrons must complete the Boathouse Safety Orientation prior to equipment use and rowing skills must be assessed and verified prior to use of rowing shells. Equipment is only available to use from the Club Room and Boathouse location.
Aquatics Weather Disclaimer
When weather is not suitable or creates unsafe conditions, hours available, hours of operation, programs, and rentals are subject to change; this includes use of all aquatics facilities and the Boathouse.
Other Information
Children must be able to use the restroom independently to participate in youth recreation activities. Please notify the Recreation Department in advance of any special needs your child may have. There will be a $1.00/minute charge for picking your child up after the scheduled ending time of a class or program. Classes/Programs may not be held on Federal Holidays.
